Hiyoshi's family has a dojo, that is why he incorporates martial arts with his tennis. He first appeared in the series as Echizen's opponent for the tie-breaking match between Hyoutei and Seigaku. In the nationals, he played doubles with his senpai, Mukahi Gakuto.
