Kouichirou Marito

A human soldier and lieutenant in charge of the Clydesdale Platoon. During the first Earth-Mars War, his platoon consisting of many tanks were no match for the Martian's weaponry and Kataphrakts. He was forced to shoot his own best friend, John Humery, that was trapped inside a burning tank after being frozen in fear. As a result, he developed PTSD after the first war. After experiencing the devastating defeat, he claims that the weaponry and machinery on Earth are no match for Martian technology but no one believes him. He becomes an instructor at Shin-awara High School during the second Earth-Mars war.

Kouichirou is a stubborn and carefree adult who often takes his work seriously. He is often seen slacking, drinking or being sarcastic towards his students. Due to his PTSD, he greatly regrets being unable to save his best friend and traumatizes over the past as he is not able to forgive himself.

Although he does not look like a reliable person, he is very skilled when it comes to piloting Kataphrakts.
