Koharu Sakuragi

Koharu is a character in the new series of the Pocket Monsters anime. She lives in Vermilion City with her family and attends a school there as well. Koharu is a childhood friend of Gou and the daughter of Professor Sakuragi.

Koharu is overly cautious and takes a realistic approach to life. She finds Gou's confidence and big ideas to be irritating, and often reminds her friend to mind his manners. She appears distant and indifferent to others, as seen when she tends to ignore Satoshi, although she would gradually open up and become more friendly towards him. Although reserved and aloof, Koharu is very protective of her friends.

Koharu's aloofness appears to stem from her own uncertainty of what goals she wants to pursue, and she is bothered by her classmates assuming she will follow her father's footsteps and become a Pokémon researcher, and that she must be a good battler.
